Key Concepts.

Here I am look at how I can remove someones identity by the application of make up. Below is my inital idea design, the idea I have gone for with this look is to try different variations of the key makeup to reflect exploring weather our identity is our mind or asethetics.

Is identity the mind or aesthetics?

Concept 1.

This is my idea to strip away identity by removing all hair. And have the model holding a brain (sculpted then made out of silcione or gelatine) then a mirror or object that shows beauty in the other.

Variation 1 - Take away skin tone so no preconceptions can be thought of based on their ethnicity.

Variation 2 - Cover over the ears with the bald cap, just another form of keeping the persons looks to the bare minimum and not drawing the focus away from the simplicity of the look.

Variation 3 - Painting the brain onto the bald cap and having a beautiful makeup on the face; comparison directly between the mind and looks.

Variation 3 - Sculpt half the brain on to the redhead so the bald cap it made over the top, then the opposite side of the face made up to it to look beautiful.

Concept 2.

Linking our appearance to our identity?

Here I am going to explore our faces/apperance and their affect on identity. I could look at subtle changes such as changing someones nose shape and its affect on how we idenitfy with that person when we look at them.

Concept 3.

Representing our mind through makeup.

Here I have come up with different ways I could interprate this and the skills i can use to help me achieve this look.

Variation 1 - plastic surgery, correcting features. I could use the golden ratio mask against my model and changing what the deems not fitting into its scientific beauty. prosthetics would be a good way to produce this.

Variation 2 - Bad plastic surgery, so unsymmetryical sugerys. the same prosthetic applyed in a wonky or un flattering place.

Variation 3 - Creating my own verysion of lizardman/zombie boy/catman. this I could use a range of of skills, body painting, bondo tattoos, prosthetics.

Variation 4 - changing gender/race/ethnicity (can we identify each other as the same person? ) This I would use different ways to make beards, foundation/colour correction techniques.

For this concept I want to explore our mind by creating beautiful visual looking pieces on the body that reflect our minds.

My key technique i want to explore through this concept is body painting influenced by abstract art, the idea behind is that each colour represents a part of the mind; memories, physical parts, the nervous system etc. Collected to create a beautiful piece that shows the woring of our mind.

Variation 1 - I could introduce textures - materials layered into the painting.

Variation 2 - Look at adding visual but not 3d texture, i.e. creating patterns layered up with airbrushing techniques.

Variation 3 - decorate the body with things our mind knows such as letters, sysbols to represnt stages of life etc.
