- The amount of time it will take to produce

- Making it too dense it does not look realistic

Beard Knotting Process.

Week 6.

Time spent on it to date: 6 hours

As you can see from the images above I have made a start on my beard, this is my first piece to make for this design. It is taking alot longer than I orignally thought, this is around 6 hours work. I have lightly blocked out all the top half  of the shape with my dark brown, later once tried on the face I will add in sections of lighter browns and grey if I need to add highlights to match my painting. Another reason why I have initally knotted it quiet spars is that the bulk of the hair is under the chin so I dont want to add it too much on top to start with until I judge how thick the under side knotting sits. When textured I don't wan it to sit over bulky and doesn't work with my moustache. However as this has taken longer to produce than expected so I decided to put the beard making on hold for the rest of the week to focus on making all my prosthetic pieces and moustache for my assesment coming up and work on my beard were and when I have to time.

Week 7.

Time spent on it to date (estimate):22 hours

At the start of the week the progress started well the jaw line was even across the beard and good progress was made on the underside, however I have struggled to increse my pace at which I knot, so over the next week I want to improve my speed which will make me much more time effective. Overall I am happy with my progress so far, next week I aim to have it finsihed ready to dress out the following week.

Moustache Development.

Here is why I have choosen to make some of my facial postiche by knotting apose to other techniques I know and why. I have also made an example of the others so I have a visual comparision to use along side the table.

Week 8.

Time spent on it to date (estimate): 36 hours

I have finally finished my beard it isn't up to the best standard as I have had to juggle making prosthetic piece and experimenting so I have done the best I can with my time, if i hasd more I would have gone frther down so I had a thicker beard but as I haven't I wil layer crepe hair under to give it a more fuzzy texture. I found it took me a while to get the beard symetrical as I was working of a photo from a side postition, this made determing the size and shape of the pieces going up to the mouth more difficult. But the actual knotting went well I found I worked much more productivly when I worked in hour sections on it then went to do somthing else for 20 mins then came back to it.

I also completed my moustache in this week you can see my development below and the final piece (apart from dressing the beard out) I felt much more confident when knotting the moustache as I have had a lot of practise in the past few weeks and I was working alot more efficently and think my knotting is to a good standard they are alo ttighter and neater against the lace. I am really happy with this piece and I think with the beard it will work really well on my model.
