Good points:

  • Happy with the products I chose the creamy texture when layers gave a thicker look to the makeup which is similar to the painting

  • The moles blend really well into the skin, I used silicone for these in the end as my bondo pieces didn't come out of the mold properly.

  • Size and shape of my moustache the blonde hairs through it lighten and add more tone to the facial postiche which as you can see pick up the colour from rge flash adding in the shadows

  • The colour tone of the shadows work well for his skin tone they aren't too reddy brown

Things I want to change:

  • Order of applying prosthetic pieces the forhead piece needs to go over the nose piece so I can pick out the  frown line detail sculpted into it .

  • I am not going to paint the shadows in I will use the lights to create them instead.

  • Thickness of the lines around the eye they are too theatrical need to be lighter and softer

  • I want to change the way I apply the surpa colour from wiping it on with the brushes to patting it on so it looks built up and gives the broken texture look as on the portrait.

Model Cut his hair prior to assesment without letting me know so my original idea of using the length of his hair and just shaping it didn't work.

Edges on my forehead piece were vivisable. I didn't glue down enough of the cap plastic edge which meant I blead away the edge it was too close so inhabited the silicone making it go sticky and stodgy looking.

I am going to look at inserting wig strips into the the hair along the sides because his hairline is very similar to the portraits and I like the texture his hair has which I would not get from a wig so I this is why I am going to try inserting pieces where needed.

I need to apply more glue further away from the piece to give me a bigger edge to bleed away which will mak eth eedge more seamless.

Eyebrows.

Knotted VS Laying hair on.

The knotted brow on the right doesn't have the same free flowing movement as the other brow, it looks too placed and structred. On the left eye (looking at the photo) I have layered on crepe hair which has given me a much softer outcome and has a more natrual radom curl to it which even when cut into shape it hasnt lost its fluffiness, this is very similar to my portrait and I have chosen to use this technique.

Prosthetic pieces.

The nose and mole pieces worked really well I am happy with the way they blended into the and their positioning, the only bad point the the nosewas to stop it from wrinkling as I applied it once glue I found it very hard to keep it stretched and placing it on the face. The forehead piece was applied really bad and as disscuessed, in the prolem and solution section, how I want to chage the application method to correct my mistake.

Over all when coloured with th ebase layer though it worked well the pieces they weren't over pigmented that it was difficult to make the same skin tone as the face however for next time I am thinking to warm the pieces up with flicking skin undertones and red ontop the piece prior to clouring with the face. I would use Illustrator for this.
