Critical Evaluation.

When I initially finished with my summative assessment I was very frustrated and angry with myself as I knew I could have done better, as demonstrated with my experimentation. I am not happy with my bleeding edge on my moles, in my formative this was a lot neater I think had a thicker edge to begin with when I took it out the mold but the edges seems very thin and workable however on the day it was not the case. I still need to work on getting this right for the different sized pieces I make, over this project I have improved the flat pieces I am more consistent at getting a good thinness on the edges of the piece but closed molds come out different every time.

The nose piece worked really well with the forehead layered over the top as they flowed better this is a change I had made following my formative, this improved my placing and blending together. Allowing my colouring to look continuous and not as separated and blocky as it had done previously.

I think the layering of the cream foundations worked well the product didn’t slide around as I used a tipple technique to apply with flat square brushes however looking at it under bright studio lighting I could have gone heavier with the darker tones as the highlights over power the look making it appear a lot lighter and less yellowy.

I was really pleased with how the facial postiche connected around the mouth there were no gaps and my model was able to move his mouth and talk, however on the right side it had fallen short of his hairline, the template was taken before he had a haircut and his sideburns had been taken shorter, which I wasn’t aware of until the day. In future I would find out about there plan to change anything when I initially met them to avoid this issue again. Which I was really disappointed with as I worked very hard on creating the beard so for it to fall short was unacceptable.  I didn't have time to add my soft crepe hair layering over the beard to give it the change in colour and texture like in my portrait. This was down to my time management skills; the forehead piece took longer to apply then in previous practices so I had to compromise with this technique. Looking back I could have experimented with tuplast for themole prosthetic piece thereofre not havinf to worry about edges also it is a quicker application freeing up more time I could have spent on the elements I didnt get to finish off.

If I was to change anything about my design I would maybe consider a full wig or a half wig to attach to the underneath of his natural hair to add length and wavy texture, instead of wig strips. I found they were very hard to pin to his very short shaven sides, looking back I should have plaited small sections down so that they had some substance to grip onto making them more secure then allowing me to dress them better. Another thing that I would have tweaked if I had more time would be the shape of my left brow it was too flat and needed to curl up slightly more, as in my formative. Over all I am happy with the look however my time management was not good causing my to panic which then lead to silly mistakes which made me very frustrated at the time, now I feel I was hard on myself and for my first multiple prosthetic look it was an improvement on my formative and I have stretched and developed my skills. The major point I will concentrate more on next unit is my time keeping within the assessment and work at a faster pace.

What I did to my image Evaluation.

I made the face smaller and tilted rotated it so it so the chin was lifted slightly more - at this point no make was alterd just size. I wanted to move the angel as he wa looking slightly downwards which didn't look right when attatched onto the portait. I Cut out the face and hair of my makeup then layered it in where his was would have been (it had been removed). This blended my work into the natural portait and the background which really take the image from looking quiet out of place to belonging, and from this point I can see how similar he actually looks and I am very proud of myself.

The only manipulation of the makeup I did was to flatten the nose slightly above the tip. The natural shape of his nose meant it stuck out slight mor than I had wanted so I just pushed this ection back so it was similaer to the portarits. Finally I layed over a grainy texture so It would blend into the background and altered the saturationa nd colour balance to add a more yellow tone so it blended. Overall when it has been put into context I am really happy with the look and think it works really well.
