This was a very intresting and fun project to do as I was concentrating on the areas I am intrested in so I had a passion to work hard. During my research stage I had taken the decision not to look at anything to do with disney as I wanted my inspiration to only come from the orginal text. I did take the character sebastian from the disney story but his appearance was taken from the text too looking at the sea creature decribed in the text and from her personality on how she treats other influenced my view. Then post deigns and photoshoot I looked at the starting of dinsey verison and the outcome.

 

I think I have achieved my aim to create different looks suitable for the contexts and I have picked products suitable to reflect this and the designs have as well. I am pleased with how ariel makeup is very similar but the choice of products and application make the difference between the theatre and film looks.

 

The editing process was more time consuming and harder than what I though it would be, I have basic skills on photoshop but I wanted to really challange and push myself to produce something in both contexts I am happy with. The theatre one is a much more simplistic and dinamic collection of image from my research I looked at all my old programmes andsaw that most of them are very bare on the front or very strong and dinamic images. I tried to create a dinamic character image following this route, I am happy with my images however I feel if I was to do them again their are definate improvements I could make in the photography direction however I am hppy with my final result and it built up my confidence into editing, layering, bringing images through text and all the other skills I have learnt over editing my final film images. This took a week to edit as I was learning/experimenting along the way I used both tutorials from youtube and my sisters help to learn the skills.

 

I feel like I have a better understanding of the contexts from this unit and can produce looks suitable for these contexts. My personal timing throughout this process started off create I kept on track and up to date however I didn't leave enought time to do the weaving without doing some late nights I underestimed my timing however once I had completed the first weft I worked out a more effective working pace and from their on I brought back time wasted on the first weft. But apart from this blip I feel like I have kept well time being very organised and splitting pratical and blog work evenly so I was not left with a huge work load at the end of the project. This has prepared me well for level 6 and I am very happy with the results.
