The Biedermeier Period.

(1820-1835).

As I want a historical influence to my designs I am looking at the time period in which the story was written so I can understand the cultural influences that were surrounding the author during this time. This will give me a better understanding and will influence my choices when it comes to deisnging.

Events.

Nepoleon Dies.

 

Beethoven's priemieres symphony No.9 in  Vienna.

 

 

Nicephore Niepce creates the first true photograph.

 

Baltimore & Ohio open their railroad.

 

Charles Darwin went on his second voyage on the HMS Beagle which then leads to his theory of evolution.

 

Charles dickens writes the Pickwick papers.

Artists & Designers.

William Blake.

1757 - 1827.

Artist and Poet.

He studied engraving and loved gothic art which he used to influence his own work. It was only towards the end of his life and after that he became reconised for his work and became a figure on influence.

John Constable.

1776 - 1837.

Artist.

He is known as the major english landscaper painter of the 19th century along with Joseph Turner. He painted scenes he knew very well so he could capture it's true essence.

Ferdinand Georg Waldmuller.

1793 - 1865.

Artist.

He was a leading austrian artist of the biedermeier period he painted portraits but he was best known for his landscapes as he believe that studying nature closely should be the basis of all painting.

People/Icons.

Ludwig Van Beethoven.

1770 - 1827.

Composer & Pianist.

He battled with deafness and alot of his work was composed in the last 10 years of his life when he was barely able to hear anything, he became the most prodominant musical influence of the time.

Princess Maria Carolina of Austria.

1752 - 1814.

Alot of litrature was written about her life in literature of the time as she lead a very intresting and unusal lifestyle.
